Dendrites grow without instruction. This series documents the branching crystal structures that emerge as a mountain lake thaws in early spring: geometries that surface along grain boundaries as the ice retreats, patterns that recall root systems and river deltas without belonging to either. Photographed by drone, directly from above. The palette withdraws to near monochrome, cold whites and deep teal, because structure is everything here. What looks like drawing is ice breaking apart. What looks like design is physics.
