About this Artwork
France | Corsica, Cap Corse
Seen from directly above, the black pebble beach of Nonza transforms into something else entirely: an open-air book, written and rewritten by everyone who passes through. Pebbles arranged into names, hearts, the Moorish head of Corsica. A line in French: Repose en paix, Papa. The beach stretches for kilometres along the west coast of Cap Corse, one of the largest on the island, best viewed from the village perched high on the cliffs above. Nobody owns what is written here. The stones shift with the tides and the next visitor. This image is a single frame of an endless, collective work in progress.
